I have mentioned before that I use a daily toy tub system. I need this system. Why?
1. It de-clutters my house from loose toys. This way everything has a home.
2. It stops my children getting bored with their toys. This way they only see their toys once a week- perfect!
3. It takes the girls quite awhile to unpack the tub, finding all their toys and playing with them. Then they often start packing it up again just to unpack it again (a few hours of entertainment here).
4. It only takes a few seconds to clean it all up. Everything simply gets scooped up and shoved in the tub. Too easy!
I bought seven good quality tubs from Big W and made up some simple labels.
I divided the toys evenly so that there is something soft, something hard, something with wheels, something that makes noise, something musical etc in each tub.
This system? A sanity lifesaver!
Brilliant! Too late for me...but I will be sure to pass on this great idea to some young mums I know! TFS!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Robyn. It really works for us, I'm always telling people to do the same!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea! I think I may just have to try this out here. We ccertainly need a solution to our toy clutter!
ReplyDeleteGreat Amy, let me know how it goes for you!
ReplyDeleteKatie - this is a great idea :)
ReplyDeleteThe end of your post got me thinking - about not being able to have date nights etc, because there isn't anyone close to watch the kids. I remembered this blog post. Thought you might find some ideas that you could make work for you guys sometime in the future http://www.passionatehomemaking.com/2010/05/nourish-your-marriage-20-fun-date-ideas-on-the-cheap.html
Hope its helpful :)

Thanks Lord Girl, I will check it out :)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I used to do it when the kids were young but now that they are getting older I am giving them a little more free choice with what they would like to play with. Toys are now separated and they are getting good at packing away before they chose the next tub
ReplyDeleteVery clever. It's a great idea to rotate them.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lifesaver... this way the toys seem much more interesting :)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! A great way to ensure a good rotation of toys!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! I have bins and bins of toys that are meant to be rotated every so often, but they are packed away in the garage and so difficult to get to. But when I do get to bringing out these rotated toys, they are like new again to the kids and it's wonderful to see! Thank you for the inspiration; this makes me realize that I need to find a more consistent system that works for us!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove this what a fantastic idea, the kids would never be bored again!!! Thankyou for linking up to Love it, Like it, Link it!
ReplyDeleteA great idea for my boys too now we have much less space. Lots of toys are going to be stored in a 20ft container.
