Making bread with a toddler

Yesterday I made my first loaf of oven bread and Miss 2 ended up making most of it! I found my recipe here.
She combined and then mixed the ingredients... and added the warm water.
She had a go at kneading (I then took over and left her and Miss 1 with a small portion)
Then it went back in the bowl to do some rising. Then another session of kneading and back in the bowl for further rising and then finally time to brush with water and sprinkle with poppy seeds which Miss 2 did for me...
Then it was eating time- she kept telling me over and over again about 'how she made this bread' (she made two little rolls).
What a fantastic experience, can't wait to do it again and with a quicker recipe!

  1. I've not thought of making bread with my kiddos, what a great idea. How cute is it when they're so proud!

  2. We make bread here too. The girls love it and they make different shapes (like snails/butterflies). It sounds like you had heaps of fun making it.

  3. My kids love making bread too...I use bread maker a lot, but the kids still love to turn the dough into buns, rolls and scrolls.

  4. I haven't made bread for ages, but really must do it again. I love making fresh fruit load with heaps of apricots and sultanas. Yum!
