I love ice-cream. Who doesn't? I wasn't sure about a home-made ice-cream recipe but I'm all for trying new things. All three girls are dairy-free/soy-free but as a treat I thought we'd make 5 minute ice-cream.
You need:
1 tablespoon sugar
½ cup of full cream milk
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Place the three ingredients in a sandwich ziplock bag. Mix and seal the container very well (I used packing tape to secure the seal).
2. Place the sealed ziptop bag in an A4 sized ziplock
bag. Place crushed
ice cubes and approximately 1/2 cup rock salt inside the largerbag to surround the smaller bag. Seal the larger bag very well.
3. Shake and roll the bag for
5-10 minutes (until the mixture turns into ice cream). Just make sure when you open not to get any of the salty-ice mixture into the bag with the ice-cream! Grab a spoon and
enjoy!
It was surprisingly very yummy!
I found the original recipe here.
Hi Katie
ReplyDeleteI am also dairy-free and miss ice-cream. I found this wonderful recipe for banana ice-cream, using only one ingredient - frozen banana! Perfect reason to buy a bunch of ripe bananas. Healthy and affordable, you'll all love it!

Thanks for sharing Mim! I'm going to give this a go today!!!
DeleteMim, we've done the banana only icecream and it's great! :) Miss Daisy loves it and sometimes we put on a couple of choc chips! :)
DeleteKatie, I'm going to give this a go - I'm a tad baffled by it to tell you the truth so it will be a great science style activity with Miss Daisy too!
